MIMI HAY

After a childhood in Japan, I find Shibori and other textural elements best express those early influences found in Japanese textiles, pottery and art. These influences, coupled with my instinctive love of nature provides the inner resources from which my sense of style and design are delivered.

Her custom clothing line is inspired by dimensions in nature, including light, texture and layers of material. Most of her pieces incorporate an unexpected aesthetic, visual or tactile element, such as metals woven into the fabric, texture achieved through a unique spinning process, or colors blended using an ancient dying technique.
